Edlingham Castle is a castle ruin in the county of Northumberland, England.

History+

The origins of Edlingham Castle date back to 1174, when a manor house stood on this site, owned by John of Edlingham. In 1294, ownership changed hands when Walter of Edlingham, a descendant of the original owner, sold the estate to William de Felton. It was this William de Felton who had the present castle built. In 1396, Elizabeth de Felton inherited the estate and married Sir Edmund Hastings. Her descendants eventually sold the castle in 1514 to George Swinburne, whose family inhabited the structure until the 18th century.
