The building's origins date back to the mid-15th century. A significant expansion took place in 1529, when it was adorned with impressive net vaults and intricately carved beam ceilings. After a long period as a monastery tavern, the building was converted into a town hall in 1873. Following a fire in 1925, the high half-hipped roof had to be renewed.
