The former Jesuit Monastery in Düsseldorf, a historic structure of architectural significance, is situated in the heart of the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital. It is protected as a listed building and bears witness to a rich history and remarkable transformations.
History+
The construction of the building dates back to 1650. Over the centuries, it underwent several significant alterations. In 1816, Franz Andreas Lehmann and Friedrich Kelderhoff carried out modifications for the Prussian district government. A particularly distinctive redesign of the facade in the Berlin Classicism style was accomplished in 1823 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The edifice features a facade length of nineteen axes and a depth of two axes. The facade is structured by floor-delimiting cornices, window frames, ashlar render, and a portal designed in the Italian Renaissance style.
