Ehemaliges Kloster der Serviten

Construction of the monastery began in 1861 with the south wing, completed in 1862. The Church of Mariä Empfängnis was built concurrently. From 1872 to 1879, the complex served as a home for four Servite nuns. In 1891, the Hospitaller Brothers took over the monastery and established a nursing home there. An expansion occurred in 1911 with the construction of the west wing. Following a fire in the south wing in 1929, it was rebuilt and extended in 1931/32, and the east wing was added. In 1967, the nursing home closed due to the advanced age of the friars. Until 1979, the building served as accommodation for migrant workers before being used by the Free State of Bavaria as an asylum seeker dormitory, which closed in 1996. In 2001, the municipality of Schalkham acquired the buildings.

The former monastery is located in Landshut, a city in Lower Bavaria, Germany.

Today, the west wing of the former monastery houses a community and cultural center. Since 2007, a village shop, known as Klosterladen Johannesbrunn, has also been located there. The entire monastery building has been a protected monument since 2000.
