In Oldenburg, the Elisabeth-Anna-Palais is a residence with a red brick facade and baroque ornamentation. The tower with an onion dome at the southeastern corner is striking.

History+

The construction of the Elisabeth-Anna-Palais took place between 1894 and 1896, commissioned by the last Grand Duke of Oldenburg, Friedrich August. He had the domicile built in the palace garden according to designs by senior building officer Ludwig Freese. During the construction period, his first wife, Elisabeth Anna of Prussia, passed away, and the palais was named in her memory. Upon completion, Friedrich August moved into the residence on October 24, 1896, with his second wife, Elisabeth Alexandrine Mathilde of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
