Entenburg Castle
Entenburg Castle, formerly also called "hus zu Pforren", is a moated castle near the Danube in the village of Pfohren, a district of the city of Donaueschingen, in the Schwarzwald-Baar district in Baden-Württemberg. It is located at an elevation of around 686 meters above sea level.
The castle was built around 1471 by Count Heinrich VI of Fürstenberg and mentioned as "hus zu Pforren" in 1471. Its most prominent guest was Emperor Maximilian I, who once stayed here.
In 1567 and 1568, the castle was used as a tithe barn. In 1871, it was completely rebuilt. Of the castle with four corner towers and a square structure, the moat is now missing. The castle is privately owned and houses an antiquarian bookshop.
