Entenburg Castle
In the Pfohren district of Donaueschingen stands the Entenburg, a historic moated castle.
History+
The origins of the Entenburg date back to 1471, when Count Heinrich VI of Fürstenberg had the estate built. At that time, it was known as “hus zu Pforren”. The castle hosted Emperor Maximilian I, who once stayed here. Between 1567 and 1568, the complex temporarily served as a tithe barn, before undergoing renovations in 1871.

The Entenburg is located in Pfohren, a district of Donaueschingen, in the Schwarzwald-Baar district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 666 meters above sea level.

Today, the Entenburg is privately owned. Originally featuring four corner towers and a square layout, the moat is now absent. The building currently houses an antiquarian bookshop.
