Evangelische Kirche Münster

The name “Münster” suggests an early monastic settlement. The church's origins date back to the 12th century, with a parish documented as early as 1316. In the late Middle Ages, the edifice acquired its current Gothic form. With the Reformation, the congregation adopted the Protestant faith. Over the centuries, the church underwent numerous alterations and renovations, including the renewal of windows, roofs, and the tower. In the 19th century, the sacristy was demolished and the main choir rebuilt after parts had collapsed. Later restorations uncovered late medieval paintings and consecration crosses and adapted the interior furnishings.

The Evangelical Church Münster is located in the Münster district of Laubach, in the Gießen district of Hesse, Germany. It is situated on the western edge of the village and is part of the WORM an der Wetter parish community.

Today, the church serves as an active place of worship for the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau. It stands as a well-preserved cultural monument, whose architecture reflects its long history and various construction phases. The uncovered Gothic frescoes in the baptistery are a special feature.
