A Rococo building with Baroque elements, the Fasanenschlösschen is located in the pheasantry of Moritzburg Palace Park. It is situated on the Niedere Großteich Bärnsdorf and is visually connected to the Moritzburg Palace, located to the west.

History+

The origins of the Fasanenschlösschen date back to 1738–1739, when a single-story pavilion was built on the same site. Between 1769 and 1782, a renovation and an additional story were added in the Rococo style with Baroque accents, presumably under the direction of court architects Johann Daniel Schade and Johann Gottlieb Hauptmann. Shortly thereafter, the complex was expanded with further buildings such as the Garnhaus, the Venus Fountain, and a residence for Count Marcolini.
