The Cavalier Hepp is a fortress building in Ingolstadt, Bavaria. It is part of the city's inner fortress ring and now houses the Ingolstadt City Museum.

History+

Construction of the Cavalier Hepp began in 1838 and was completed in 1843. It is a two-story exposed brick building with a flat roof, complemented by obtuse-angled side wings and round stair towers. The defensive structure was named after Major Kaspar von Hepp. Although the Cavaliers in Ingolstadt lost military significance from 1875 with the construction of outer fort belts, the Cavalier Hepp was initially used as emergency housing after World War II. Its demolition was averted by the city council in 1973; instead, it underwent renovation, which led to the opening of the City Museum in 1981.
