The origins of Jajce Fortress date back to the 14th century. It was constructed by Hrvoje Vukčić Hrvatinić, the founder of the city of Jajce. The city of Jajce gained historical prominence as the last Bosnian city to fall to the Ottoman Empire's forces in 1528.
