The Ključ Fortress, a ruin, is on a hill in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its strategic location made it a military base.
History+
The construction of Ključ Fortress is presumed to have taken place in the first half of the 14th century. A pivotal event in its history was the capture of the last Bosnian king, Stjepan Tomašević, by the Turkish army at this site in 1463. The fortress was continuously expanded. Until 1838, it housed a full Turkish garrison whose task was to control the traffic routes through the Sana Valley.

Ključ Fortress is located in the town of Ključ, in the Banja Luka district, situated in the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It stands at an elevation of approximately 342 meters above sea level.
