History+

Küstrin Fortress was built in the second half of the 16th century to protect the residential city of Küstrin. Lunette C was constructed later, between 1850 and 1862, as part of an expansion of the fortress facilities. This expansion became necessary to accommodate the increasing range of modern artillery. Its use as a fortress ended only in 1920, after the Inter-Allied Military Control Commission ordered the removal of cannons and weapons.
