On the coast of Cyprus stands Larnaca Fortress, also known as Κάστρο Λάρνακας. It was built on the foundations of an earlier Venetian fortification and later served as a prison before being converted into a museum.
History+
The origins of the fortress trace back to a Venetian fort. In 1625, the current fortress was constructed on its foundations. During the early years of British rule in Cyprus, the structure was used as a prison.

Inside, it houses a museum, and during the summer months, theater performances are held in the inner courtyard garden.
