The Fortress Liège-Fort de Pontisse, once part of the defensive ring around the Belgian city of Liège, is situated at an elevation of approximately 128 meters above sea level. This fort was built in the late 19th century and was significant in two World Wars.
The first modern fortifications around Liège, including Fort de Pontisse, were constructed between 1880 and 1890 at the initiative of Belgian General Henri Alexis Brialmont. These forts, located about seven kilometers from the city center, were built using concrete and equipped with weaponry.
