Fortress Magdeburg-Ravelin 2

Ravelin 2, a well-preserved relic of Fortress Magdeburg, is located in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt. As an independent fortification, it served to protect the curtain wall and the ditch between two bastions.
History+
The Fortress Magdeburg, whose origins date back to the 13th century, was continuously expanded and modernized. Between 1869 and 1874, the western front of the fortress underwent transformation. This was due to adaptations to new military-technical requirements and the creation of space for the construction of the new Magdeburg main railway station. During this phase, Cavaliers 5 and 6 were built, as well as the fortress ditch, where Ravelin 2 was situated.
