In Wiesbaden war Fort Biehler ein Bestandteil der Mainzer Festung. Ursprünglich als Fort Petersberg errichtet, wurde es später nach dem preußischen Ingenieur Hans Alexis von Biehler benannt und gilt als letztes großes Bauwerk zur Verstärkung der Mainzer Befestigungsanlagen.

Planning for the fort on Petersberg began in April 1878 by the Engineer Corps. After some adjustments, construction started in 1880 and was completed in 1884. The official renaming to Fort Biehler took place on April 30, 1885. In 1910, the fortress underwent its last major modification with the installation of a training facility for Pioneer Battalion 25. After World War I, French occupation troops used the fort first as barracks and from 1925 as a storage facility. In 1924, the complex was legally dissolved and had to be de-fortified according to Article 180 of the Treaty of Versailles. Demolition work occurred between April and August 1927.
