Fortress Sosopol (Созопол)-Krimna (Кримна)

The origins of the Sozopol-Krimna Fortress date back to antiquity, when it secured a Thracian mining settlement. This settlement was inhabited by the Skirmiani tribe and later taken over by Apollonia. During late antiquity, the fortification underwent an expansion to an area of 400 m². It is believed that a meeting took place here in 1328 between the Bulgarian Tsar Michael III Shishman and the Byzantine Emperor Andronikos III Palaiologos, reaffirming peace between their empires. Archaeological excavations within the fortress area have unearthed settlement traces and slag deposits from antiquity and late antiquity.
