The Trapezitsa Fortress, a significant historical structure, rises in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. It was once the second most important fortress of the former Bulgarian capital and today stands as a testament to a rich past.

The name Trapezitsa is associated either with the word “trabeza” (table) or “trapez” (shape). During archaeological excavations at the beginning of the 20th century, the remains of at least 17 churches were uncovered within the fortress walls, indicating the site's former importance.
