Fischer Church Rust

The church's origins date back to the 12th century when a small Romanesque church was built on the foundations of a Roman watchtower. Today, parts of the west and north walls, along with apse foundations, remain from this original construction. In the second half of the 13th century, the Chapel of Mary, including a crypt, was added as an independent extension, endowed by Queen Maria of Hungary. Around 1400, the church was extended eastward with a Gothic choir, replacing the Romanesque apse. A further enlargement occurred around 1515 when the south wall was removed, and the building was expanded to incorporate the Chapel of Mary.
