History+

Construction of Flint Castle commenced around the year 1277 under King Edward I of England. This measure was part of the king's broader plan to secure his rule in Wales through the construction of strategically important fortifications. The castle also holds literary significance, serving as the setting for Act 3, Scene 3, in William Shakespeare’s drama “Richard II.”
