Fort Carré

Fort Carré is a fortress situated on a small hill near the port of Antibes in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France. Its architecture and strategic position made it a defensive structure on the Mediterranean coast.
History+
The origins of Fort Carré date back to 1553 when it was built to protect the city and port of Antibes. Around 1680, the fortress underwent expansions under the direction of the military architect Vauban. In subsequent centuries, the fort was rebuilt and extended to meet evolving military requirements.

Fort Carré is located in Antibes, in the Alpes-Maritimes department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France. It stands at an elevation of approximately 30 meters above sea level.
