Fusternberg Fort (Wesel)
Fort Fusternberg in Wesel was a component of the city's defensive structures. Located east of the city center, it secured the railway lines leading south and east from the city.
History+
After the fortress installations were dismantled in the 1920s, only the reduit and the right caponier of the original Fort Fusternberg remained. The Catholic Church Zu den heiligen Engeln was later built on the reduit. The crypt of this church utilizes the upper floor of the former reduit, while the lower floor houses an exhibition on the history of the church.

Today, the preserved reduit of the fort houses a museum located on the lower floor. The upper floor is part of the Catholic Church Zu den heiligen Engeln.
