History+
The Upper Bavarian convent, dedicated to the Annunciation of Mary, was founded in 1618 by Johann Jakob and Anna von Papafava, the lords of Reichersbeuern and Sachsenkam. Initially established as a Capuchin convent, the sisters transitioned to the Franciscans in 1651 and became affiliated with the Bavarian Franciscan Province. The Franciscan friars took over pastoral care and established a small convent, a so-called hospitium, which was expanded between 1725 and 1732. During the secularization, the sisters' convent along with the Franciscan hospice was dissolved in 1802. King Ludwig I of Bavaria approved the re-establishment of the convent in 1835 and the creation of a girls' school, which operated from 1837 to 1958. A comprehensive renovation of the convent church began in 2021 and was completed in 2025.

Today, the convent complex is a popular destination. The convent and pilgrimage church of the Annunciation of Mary, which forms the south wing of the complex, was built between 1733 and 1735. The chancel features a barrel vault, modeled after the sanctuary in Loreto. Most of the interior furnishings date back to the time of construction. Additionally, a brewery cooperative has existed since 1924, succeeding the original convent brewery that operated since 1677.
