Franziskanerkloster Kerbscher Berg (Dingelstädt)

The origins of the Franciscan Monastery Kerbscher Berg date back to 1864, when the first wing of the building was constructed. In 1866, it was consecrated by Bishop Konrad Martin. Due to the Kulturkampf, the monastery was dissolved in 1875 but restored in 1887. Between 1889 and 1890, the Franciscan master builder Paschalis Graze began constructing the current church, which was consecrated in 1893 and dedicated in 1901 to the Japanese martyr Petrus Baptist Blasquez and his companions. A further expansion with a south wing took place from 1899 to 1901. Monastic life flourished from 1918 until the National Socialists ended it in 1944 with the confiscation of the property. After World War II, the Franciscans returned in 1946.
