The church can be visited

In Freiburg im Breisgau stands Freiburg Minster, a Roman Catholic parish church. Initially started in the Romanesque style and largely completed in the Gothic style, it has been a cathedral since 1827 but traditionally retains the name Minster. Its 116-meter-high tower is well-known.

History+

The origins of the Minster date back to around 1120 when the first parish church was built in Freiburg. Around 1200, the construction of the current Minster began in the Late Romanesque style, inspired by Basel Minster. The transept and the lower parts of the side towers from this period are still preserved today. From 1230, construction continued in the French Gothic style, resulting in the nave and the tower, which was completed around 1330.
