The Freisitz Weinberg, a historic manor and estate house, is situated in the Traundorf district of Gmunden, Upper Austria. Originally designated as a noble free seat exempt from taxes, it is now a private estate with a villa-like character.

History+

The first documented mention of Freisitz Weinberg as a noble estate occurred in 1642. At that time, Johann Georg Wankhammer, who also owned the neighboring Freisitz Moos, sold the property to Johann Baptist Fasolt, the then owner of Schloss Mühlgrub. From Fasolt, the free seat passed to his stepson, Hans Adam von Kaschnitz. The Kaschnitz family, a noble lineage established in Gmunden since the 16th century, known for its loyalty and represented in the Gmunden council, retained ownership until 1784.
