The Friedensburg in Radebeul is a castle in the Neo-Gothic style, rising on a hillside above Niederlößnitz. Its silhouette, along with the nearby water tower, shapes the image of the surrounding vineyards.

History+

At the site of the current castle, there was originally a 17th-century winemaker's house, which was partially destroyed by fire in 1868. The vineyard owner Ernst Louis Gießmann then had a new mountain guesthouse built by the construction company Gebrüder Ziller in 1870/1871. The name “Friedensburg” was given on the occasion of the peace treaty between Germany and France in 1871. The guesthouse, which also served as a hotel from 1895, developed into an excursion destination.
