Büsdorf Manor

The manor house of Bendeleben is a historic building in the municipality of Kyffhäuserland in Thuringia. It is located in the village of Bendeleben, which is known for its well-preserved Baroque garden.

The history of the manor house dates back to the Middle Ages. Originally, there was a moated castle at this location, which served as the seat of theen von Bendeleben family. In the 16th century, the castle was converted into a Renaissance manor house. Over the centuries, the manor house changed hands several times and was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded.

Architectural Features

The current appearance of the manor house is characterized by various architectural styles. The oldest parts of the building date from the Renaissance, while later additions show Baroque and classical elements. Particularly striking is the stately main building with its two corner towers and the impressive portal. Inside, there are numerous historic rooms, including a grand ballroom and a library.

A special highlight is the Baroque garden belonging to the manor house. It was laid out in the 18th century and is one of the best-preserved Baroque gardens in Thuringia. The garden is characterized by its strict geometric structure, numerous sculptures, fountains, and an orangery. It invites visitors to take a leisurely stroll and linger.

The manor house is now privately owned and cannot be visited.
