The Princely Castle in Bruck an der Mur, Styria, is a structure with origins in the 16th century. Although it has undergone multiple renovations and suffered from fires, it served as a princely residence and military facility.

History+

The history of the Princely Castle began on January 4, 1561, when Emperor Ferdinand I gifted the building to his imperial councilor Andrae Pögl, Baron von Reifenstein and Arberg. In 1607, Archduke Ferdinand acquired the property. This occurred at the request of the Bruck an der Mur magistrate, who wished to free up the previous princely residence on the main square for use as a town hall. Until 1752, the building served as a territorial princely castle.
