The Princely Castle in Bruck an der Mur today serves as the town hall. Originally a burgher house, it has been repeatedly redesigned and expanded, maintaining its function as the administrative center of the town.

History+

In 1596, Archduke Ferdinand acquired the property to use it as a princely residence. As early as 1609, he handed the building over to the town of Bruck an der Mur, which intended to use it as its town hall. Renovations lasted until 1629, before the first council meeting took place on October 26 of that year. A town fire in 1792 destroyed large parts of the town hall, after which it was rebuilt between 1795 and 1798.
