Fürstliches Castle

The building was completed in 1540 and initially served as a cellar and granary. From the end of the 16th to the beginning of the 17th century, it was owned by Melchior von Dernbach, also known as Graul, who held positions as bailiff in Brückenau, imperial councilor, and court marshal of Fulda, and was the brother of Prince-Abbot Balthasar von Dernbach. Under Prince-Abbots Placidus von Droste (1678–1700) and Konstantin von Buttlar (1714–1726), the palace was converted into an administrative building and court seat. Even after the dissolution of the Geisa District Court in 1949, the building retained its name.
