Boundary Monument Hötensleben

In Hötensleben, one of the last remaining sections of the Inner German Border, the former border installation between the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic, which was built directly adjacent to the houses of the village, can be found. Over a length of 350 m and an area of 6.5 ha, elements such as the camouflage wall, the signal fence, the clear and firing field with light trace, the patrol road and vehicle barrier, the border wall, and the command tower with vehicle position have been preserved.

On January 12, 1990, the border installations, which document the state of 1989, were placed under monument protection. Since 2004, they have been part of the German Division Memorial Marienborn, located approximately 18 km to the north, as the Hötensleben Border Memorial. Since 2011, the site, along with the memorial in Marienborn, has been part of the European Cultural Heritage. The grounds of the monument are freely accessible.
