Palais Doberan
The Grand Palace is a listed secular building in Bad Doberan in the Rostock district (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern).
From 1806 to 1809, the former grand ducal palace was built according to plans by Carl Theodor Severin, based on the classical buildings of his teachers Carl Gotthard Langhans and Friedrich Gilly. The main cornice projects, the attic is low. The portal niche in the center is located behind four engaged Ionic columns. Behind the foyer, the upper floor is accessible via a single-flight staircase. The side rooms on both floors are accessed via a transverse corridor.
The Oval Hall is equipped with a French pictorial wallpaper, depicting the story of Cupid and Psyche and designed by L. Lafitte and Merry-Joseph Blondel. The wallpaper in the style of grisaille was probably printed around 1820 by Dufour in Paris.
The Grand Palace is currently (2012) used as an administrative building by the district.
