The Grand Ducal Palace in Badenweiler, once an administrative building and later a summer residence, now stands as a cultural hub. Originally built for the Margraves of Baden, it now hosts art exhibitions within its historic walls.

History+

The origins of the palace date back to 1587, when it was constructed as an administrative building for the Margraves of Baden. Until 1689, it served intermittently as the seat of the superior administrative district. In 1727, the administrative seat was moved to Müllheim. The palace underwent a transformation between 1887 and 1888 under Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden, who had it converted into his summer residence.
