Bomsdorf Manor

The Bomsdorf estate was a fief of the Pförten lordship. It remained in the possession of the von Bomsdorff family until 1698, after which it frequently changed owners. In 1731, Friedrich von Hayn had a manor house built, influenced by Neuzelle Baroque. A successor, Prot von Wiedebach, altered the building in the classical style in 1850. From 1893 until the end of World War II, the von Kunows inhabited the castle. Afterwards, it served as refugee accommodation and for residential purposes. In 1976, the building lost its monument status. From 1997 to 2000, it was extensively renovated by the municipality of Neuzelle. Today, a castle restaurant is operated there.

Bomsdorf Manor House (Castle Restaurant) with manor park. Worth seeing is the ten-hectare park (under nature protection) with its mighty oaks, silver poplars, copper beeches, and ash trees in a landscape of gentle hills and ponds.
