Damp Manor

The Damp Estate is located between Vogelsang-Grünholz and the Baltic Sea resort of Damp, almost directly on the K 61 in Hegenholz. The estate was first mentioned in 1438. It was initially under the Bishop of Schleswig and has been independent ever since.

The manor house, often referred to as a castle, was built in 1595 in the Renaissance style and has been rebuilt several times. The manor, built on an artificial river island, has a ten-meter-high entrance hall from which a double grand staircase leads to the upper floor. The Renaissance building has been inhabited by the family of the Counts Reventlow since the end of the 16th century. The manor house is furnished with richly figured stucco work as well as with furniture and paintings from around 1700.

Until 1640, both the manor house and the cow house were rebuilt several times. Today, a restaurant of the same name operates in the cow house. It can also be seen in the ZDF series Der Landarzt. There is an art trade in one of the outbuildings. The garden was originally laid out as a Baroque garden.
