Deutsch-Nienhof Manor

The former noble estate Deutsch-Nienhof was first mentioned in 1472. In the early 16th century, it was owned by the Rantzau family, who built a three-winged moated castle, depicted on the Rantzau panel. The current manor house, redesigned in the late 18th century, stands on the foundations of the old castle. The gatehouse, designed by Georg Greggenhofer during the renovation, was not realized at the time but was built 200 years later in the Molfsee Open-Air Museum. Since the 18th century, the estate has been a family entailment of the von Hedemann-Hespen family. From 1907 to 1909, Paul von Hedemann-Heespen had the interior of the manor house renovated. There are two cup-marked stones in the district.
