Emkendorf Manor, a stately home in Schleswig-Holstein, is now an important monument in the region.

History+

Construction of the manor house began in the 18th century under Jean Henri Desmercières, who hosted King Frederick V in 1745. The estate later passed to Detlev von Reventlow and was inherited by his son Friedrich Karl Reventlow in 1783. Together with his wife Julia, whose family had acquired wealth through the Atlantic triangular trade, he decorated the estate. Under Julia Reventlow, Emkendorf developed into an intellectual center, attracting figures such as Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock and Matthias Claudius.
