The Manor House of Fürstenhof+

On the orders of Duchess Auguste von Mecklenburg, the estate village of Fürstenhof was established in 1729. The Fürstenhof Manor House itself was not built until 1882 and was managed completely independently from 1885 to 1945.
In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. Since 2003, the estate has been back in private ownership. The buyer had the manor house renovated and operates organic farming on part of the former land. The products are offered in the estate's own organic farm shop in Finkental. Several holiday apartments have been set up in the house for tourist purposes.

Architecture and History+

The manor house is a plastered brick building with two storeys and a hipped roof. The main facade is adorned with a central risalit and a portico. The interior features well-preserved stucco ceilings and wall paintings from the manor house's construction period.

After the forced expropriation in 1945, the manor house was used for various purposes. It served as a refugee accommodation, a school, and a municipal administration building. Due to a lack of maintenance, the building fell into disrepair over the decades.

The Renovation

The current owner acquired the manor house in 2003 and initiated extensive renovation measures. The roof was re-covered, the facade was restored, and the interior was carefully renovated. Great importance was attached to preserving the historical substance of the building.

Today, the Fürstenhof Manor House shines in new splendor. It is a popular destination for tourists and a cultural center for the region. The holiday apartments offer guests the opportunity to experience the historical ambience of the manor house and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
