Glüsig Manor

The origins of Gut Glüsig date back to the 13th century, when Konrad von Wudenswegen donated land in the Glüsingen area to Althaldensleben Abbey. In 1310, the abbey acquired additional land and integrated Glüsingen into its territory. Following a plague epidemic around 1450, which led to the desolation of the village, the abbey established the Glüsig outpost east of the old settlement around 1460. During the Thirty Years' War, the outpost and its St. Anna Chapel were destroyed, but rebuilt from 1648. The main building of the farmstead, still standing today, was constructed in 1757 under Abbess Gräber. In 1810, the Magdeburg merchant Johann Gottlob Nathusius acquired the secularized abbey, including the outpost. Under his management, the estate transformed from an agricultural operation into a tree nursery.
