Gneven Manor

The first documented mention of Gneven dates back to 1246. In the 16th century, the estate was owned by the von Plessen and von Kardorff families. Numerous changes of ownership followed, including the von Preen family from 1608, the von Walberg family from 1701, and Levin von Petersdorff from 1708. In 1734, Christian Siegfried von Bassewitz took over the property. Towards the end of the 19th century, in 1890, it passed to Hugo Kruse. In 1925, Felix Heribert Schoeller acquired the estate, but sold it again in 1927/1928 to the fine paper factory Felix Schoeller & Bausch. After World War II in 1945, the Schoeller family was dispossessed.
