Granskevitz Manor

A castle on the site of the present manor house was already built in 1170 by Granza von Platen. In the 15th century, the castle was rebuilt. The manor house was built in the 17th century on the walls of this castle. Additions and alterations were made in the 18th and 20th centuries. Until the death of Carl von Platen in 1846, the estate was the ancestral seat of the von Platen family. Carl von Platen's daughter Agathe married Hans-Friedrich von Schultz. His grandson Carl von Schultz managed the estate until its forced expropriation by the communists in 1945.

Carl von Schultz was the founder and owner of the "Norddeutsche Saatzuchtgesellschaft KG von Schultz-Granskevitz" - "Nordsaat". He was abducted and murdered by the Russians in 1945. His wife and their four daughters were able to flee to Schleswig-Holstein and founded the company "Nordsaat" there, entirely in the spirit of her husband. In 1991, the estate was reacquired by "Nordsaat-Saatzuchtgesellschaft m.b.H."
