Gresse Manor
In the municipality of Gresse, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, stands Gresse Manor House. Built in the Neo-Gothic style, the estate was divided by a road into the manor house with park and stables, and the farmstead. Today, the building stands empty and is in a desolate condition.
History+
The origins of the Gresse estate date back to 1297, when Count Nikolaus von Schwerin donated land to the Boizenburg church. The current Neo-Gothic manor house was built between 1849 and 1860 according to designs by Heinrich Thormann, after a previous building had been demolished in 1849. After the owners were expropriated in 1945, the manor house served as a nursing home until 1997. Since 1998, it has stood empty and is visibly decaying, with a fire in 2008 causing further damage.
