Hasselburg Manor

Until 1820, the Hasselburg estate was owned by the noble family Schenk von Flechtingen. Subsequently, ownership changed hands to the Barons von Spiegel zum Diesenberg, who had the current manor house built in 1870. As the von Spiegel family was already residing in Halberstadt and owned a summer residence in Seggerde, the new manor house primarily served for hunting and as accommodation for the estate manager, earning it the nickname “hunting lodge.” Between 1854 and 1880, the Counts von Alvensleben held the lordship of the estate, before ownership reverted to the Barons von Spiegel. In 1890, the widow of Werner Friedrich Julius Stephan von Spiegel transferred the estate to her brother-in-law Eduard von Davier. His descendants managed Hasselburg until 1945.
