Kletkamp Manor

The origins of the Kletkamp estate date back to the Middle Ages, when a moated castle stood on the same site, belonging to the Knights of Kletkamp from 1253. In the 14th century, the estate passed to the Cistercian monastery of Reinfeld, before being owned by the von Rantzau family from 1387 to 1612. Through marriage, it came into the possession of the von Brockdorff family in 1612, who still reside there today. The core structure of the manor house, a half-timbered Renaissance building, is dendrochronologically dated to 1547. The building was expanded and redesigned by the Brockdorffs with Baroque and Neoclassical elements. The five-story central section facing the courtyard, added in 1676, stands out from other Holstein manor houses and may have been inspired by Dutch models. After a fire in 1952, the turret on the roof was reconstructed.
