Knippelsdorf Manor

In the district of Siedlung, there is the manor house with a widely visible two-story belvedere tower featuring decorative half-timbering, which is a protected monument. The building was constructed between 1910 and 1912 in the country house style.

The manor house was built by the landowner and royal chamberlain Wilhelm von Platen. He acquired the estate in 1909 and had the manor house built on the foundations of an older building. The plans were drawn up by the Berlin architect Paul Korff, who was known for his country house designs.

After Wilhelm von Platen's death in 1929, the estate passed to his son, Ernst von Platen. The family owned the manor house until 1945. After the Second World War, the building was used for various purposes, including a school, a doctor's office, and residential units.

In the 1990s, the manor house was extensively renovated and restored. Today, it is privately owned and is used for residential purposes.

The manor house is a two-story building with a hipped roof. The most striking feature is the belvedere tower, which is located on the south side of the building. The tower has a square floor plan and is crowned by a pointed helmet. The decorative half-timbering on the upper floor of the tower is particularly noteworthy.

The facade of the manor house is plastered and features numerous architectural details, such as bay windows, balconies, and decorative gables. The windows are mostly rectangular and have wooden frames. The main entrance is located on the east side of the building and is emphasized by a portico.

The interior of the manor house has largely been preserved in its original state. The rooms are spacious and bright, and feature high ceilings and stucco decorations. The grand staircase in the entrance hall is particularly impressive.

The manor house is surrounded by a spacious park, which was laid out at the same time as the building. The park features old trees, winding paths, and a pond. A small chapel is also located in the park.

The park is a popular destination for walks and offers a beautiful view of the manor house and the surrounding landscape.

Today, the manor house is privately owned and is used for residential purposes. The park is open to the public and can be visited during the day.
