A historic manor and estate house, Gutshaus Lichtenberg, is situated on the heights of the Franconian Jura.

History+

The first documented mention of the Lichtenberg estate dates back to 1303, when it was recorded as an episcopal estate of the Prince-Bishopric of Eichstätt. In 1316, ownership transferred to the local nobleman Knight Seifried von Mörnsheim. By 1802, Lichtenberg already comprised three properties. Population figures fluctuated from nine people in 1830 to twenty in 1950. As part of a regional administrative reform, Lichtenberg, along with the municipality of Altendorf, was incorporated into the market town of Mörnsheim on April 1, 1971.
