Nadrensee Manor

The manor house was built between 1870-81 on the foundations of a previous building. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists.

From the Middle Ages to Modern Times

The history of Goseck dates back to the Middle Ages. The first documented mention of a settlement in Goseck dates back to the 9th century. Over the centuries, the estate changed hands multiple times, belonging to various noble families.

In the 16th century, a Renaissance castle was built, which served as the residence for the lords of Goseck for many generations. This castle was largely destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and later rebuilt in a simplified form.

The 19th Century and the New Building

In the mid-19th century, the estate was acquired by the von Alvensleben family, who decided to build a new manor house. The old castle was in disrepair and no longer met the demands of the time.

The new building, completed in 1881, was designed in the style of historicism and reflected the wealth and status of the family. It featured spacious rooms, elegant salons, and a representative facade.

The Post-War Period and Current Use

After the expropriation in 1945, the manor house was used for various purposes during the GDR era. It served as a school, a community center, and even as a residential building for multiple families.

After the reunification of Germany, the manor house was returned to the von Alvensleben family. They initiated extensive renovation work to restore the building to its former glory. Today, the manor house of Goseck is used for cultural events, conferences, and as a hotel. It is a living testimony to a rich history and an impressive example of architectural heritage.
