Neu Zauche Manor

The origins of the current Neu Zauche Manor House date back to the second half of the 17th century, when it was likely built on the remnants of an old marsh castle. During the Thirty Years' War, the building, surrounded by moats, offered refuge to people from the surrounding area. Such a moat existed until 1973. Around 1800, the building underwent renovation, with the upper floor being fitted with a steep hip roof from which dormer windows, known as 'Fledermausluken', protrude in two rows. During this period, a distillery and brewery were also established within the manor house.
