Neu Zauche Manor

Neu Zauche Castle was built on the remains of an old marsh castle. During the Thirty Years' War, many people from the surrounding area found refuge in the building, which was surrounded by moats. A moat existed until 1973. The current house was probably built in the second half of the 17th century. A plastered house with two stories on a high fieldstone plinth rises on an almost square floor plan. Around 1800, the upper floor was built with a steep hip roof. So-called dormer windows protrude from the roof in two rows. At this time, a distillery and brewery were established here.

Owners included the Lords of Zauche, the von der Schulenburg family, the von Bredow family, the Wachs family, and from 1926 the Böttcher family. The latter was dispossessed and expelled by the communists in 1945. After 1990, the Böttcher family was able to repurchase the property.
