Patzig Manor

The manor house is located in the Patzig-Hof district of the municipality of Patzig in the Amt Bergen auf Rügen, Vorpommern-Rügen district, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The village is located about six kilometers northwest of Bergen in the center of the island of Rügen.
In the 18th century, Patzig-Hof was still called Wostrovitz and was closely connected with the neighboring farming village of Patzig. At the beginning of the 18th century, the farms there became part of the manor of the Counts von Mellin. In 1740, the estate passed to Christian Rudolph von Feldberg; at the end of the 18th century, the von Smiterlöw family is named as owner. In 1822, the Rassow family took over the estate.
In 1867, Ludwig Rassow had the present manor house built. In 1888, the Friedrichs family acquired the estate and managed it until their expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945.
After the war, refugee families found accommodation in the manor house. From 1950 to 1987, it served as a school. After that, the house stood empty and visibly deteriorated due to vandalism and lack of maintenance. In 2009, the listed building was gutted. Inside, parts of the ceiling stucco from the construction period have been preserved.
Today, the manor house is being renovated; the work is still ongoing. The building can only be viewed from the outside.
